Nina Martinelli was born and raised in Uniontown, Pennsylvania and graduated from Geibel Catholic High School in Connellsville. Nina enrolled in Duquesne University and earned degrees in Political Science and Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice. After graduating from Duquesne University, Nina enrolled in the Duquesne University School of Law and made the most of her law school experience. During her studies at Duquesne, Nina received a CALI award in Appellate Practice and Procedure taught by former Pennsylvania Superior Court Judge Maureen Lally-Green. She loved her Family Law class and obtained a clerkship with Family Court Judge Kim D. Eaton. Nina also traveled abroad to Ireland for a summer semester studying the European Union, International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution and Human Rights Law.
Nina believes all people are entitled to basic human rights and the protections provided by the Constitution. That is why, upon graduation, Nina focused her career on criminal defense and joined the Allegheny County Public Defender’s Office. There, Nina gained experience in all areas of criminal law, including preliminary hearings, juvenile defense, and trial, including Drug Court, one of Allegheny County’s diversionary courts. Nina is most comfortable in the courtroom advocating on behalf of her clients. When she’s not in the courtroom, Nina likes to unwind by walking her dog and traveling.
